Marla, You are amazing. I wish every child could experience an art teacher like you! You instill in children the confidence to imagine and create when frequently the idea of teaching elementary art is to conform and imitate. I’m thrilled that my child’s first experience with the formal concept of art will come from you. Thank you for posting.

Wow, Marla! These are truly beautiful and extraordinary. I love how magical your room is – and how the children are able to represent that magic in their line drawings. The self-portraits are breathtaking, with their incredible detail. I would love to have been a fly on the wall as they worked. It is clear they were powerfully engaged! Beautiful.

Beautiful -it makes me want to go in to work on a Saturday! The images are all compelling, but there is something about children’s line drawings that is just so wonderful, I wish I could draw like that, too

I think I feel like David’s self portrait today !!!

You should do a class for grownups just like this lesson. I’d take it.It’d be fun.

What you are doing is extraordinary, Marla. Thank you for this insight into how you teach. I’m like Anna, it makes me excited to get back to school.
